EBRATS is a wonderful place to teach and to learn. It definitely fits my criteria for a workplace that is challenging yet fun. Education and teaching have been in my blood for my entire life. My father is a retired professor in the College of Education at La. Tech University, which is where I received my undergraduate degree In Elementary Education with specialization in Early Childhood and Aerospace Education. After graduating I moved to Baton Rouge where I began teaching in the East Baton Rouge School System and completed my M.Ed. in Gifted Education at LSU. During my teaching career I have taught almost every age group from preschool to college, always being drawn to the schools and settings that incorporated visual and performing arts and creative teaching approaches into the curriculum. EBRATS definitely fits that description. It is a school that is an ever-changing work-in-progress where I feel free to follow my sometimes wild instincts about the best way to teach. I love teaching and am passionate about finding ways to help my students learn and discover for themselves the true joy of learning. EBRATS is a wonderful place to do that.
The high school years are rewarding years. Having two high school age students of my own makes me very aware of the unique nature of these years. Jessica is a senior and Taylor is a freshman, both at Dutchtown High School. I am also blessed to have a wonderful husband, James, who shares my life and my appreciation for the incredible potential of a school like EBRATS. We both care deeply for the students at EBRATS and believe in their ability to succeed.
